Welcome to the Department of Electrical Engineering

The Department of Electrical Engineering is established as one of the major departments of the National Institute of Technology Manipur (NITMN). NIT Manipur started its first session on 1st August, 2010. This institute is under MHRD. It has been established under the Manipur Societies Registration Act, 1989. (Regd. No. 425/M/SR/2010).

Since its inception in 2010, the Department of Electrical Engineering has been actively engaged in teaching and research in diverse fields of Electrical Engineering. The Department of Electrical Engineering offers undergraduate (B.Tech) and post graduate (M.Tech) in Power & Control and research (Ph.D) programmes. The department has well qualified faculties and well equipped laboratories. The aim of this department is to yield high class international level engineers.  

Vision and Mission of Department (EE)

Vision: To be recognized for excellence in scientific education producing professionals in electrical engineering. 


  1. To impart quality education and technical environment that would contribute professionally and ethically to the growth of individuals and country as a whole.
  2. Provide research-oriented learning environment to attract quality students for excellence and innovations.
  3. To provide state of art infrastructure for the technical advancement of the faculties and students in electrical engineering.
  4. To empower and train the graduating students in Electrical Engineering to serve the needs of industry, government & society as a whole.
  5. To achieve visibility by active participation in workshop and technical activities.

Program Educational outcome (PEO)

  1. Graduates will have the ability to solve engineering, social, economic and environmental problems by applying various learning and modern tools.
  2. Graduates will have the ability to investigate complex problems and take up research activities in the allied fields.
  3. Graduates will have interpersonal skills required to lead and nurture diverse teams.
  4. Graduates will have the ability to communicate effectively through oral and written presentation, adopting lifelong learning with integrity.

Programme Outcomes (PO)

  1. Ability to apply the knowledge of science, mathematics, and engineering for solving complex engineering problems.
  2. Ability to identify, formulate and solve Electrical Engineering problems in areas like power systems, control systems, power electronics and renewable energy resources.
  3. Ability to understand and use software tools related to the domain of power system, control system and circuit simulation.
  4. Ability to engage in lifelong learning and incline towards professional and ethical responsibility
