LIBRARY RULES AND REGULATIONS
- The library requires users to maintain silence at all times and show a valid Institute ID upon entry.
- No phone calls are allowed, and bags or folders must be left at the luggage counter.
- Personal belongings should not be left overnight as the library isn’t responsible for lost items.
- All items must be shown to security when exiting, and staff-only areas are off-limits without permission.
- Any damage to library materials will result in a fine equivalent to the latest edition’s cost.
- Proper behavior is expected—no feet on furniture, eating, drinking, smoking, or sleeping.
- Loud devices are prohibited, and seats are first-come, first-served with no reservations.
- Books should not be re-shelved, and library equipment should not be moved without prior approval. Violating any rules may lead to penalties.
- Membership is open to registered students, faculty, and staff, who must follow all rules and respect library staff.
- Materials like reference books, newspapers, journals, and magazines are not for borrowing.
- Borrowing hours are weekdays from 9:00 AM to 4:50 PM, with borrowing limits of 7 books for 2 weeks for students and staff, and 7 books for 4 weeks for faculty.
- Books must be returned on time to avoid fines, and borrowing or sharing books on behalf of others is not allowed.
- Users are responsible for any damage or loss of borrowed materials and lost items must be reported and paid for within 30 days.
- Overdue charges include Rs. 2/day for general books (Rs. 5/day after 1 week), Rs. 5/day for reserve materials, and Rs. 500 for books not returned by term end.
- Library access is for registered users, with others allowed access only with prior consent and no borrowing privileges.
- Violation of these rules may result in suspension of library privileges.
